30th Anniversary Gala Two Day Affair: Cultivating Clay in Community for 30 years

Baltimore Clayworks is celebrating 30 years as one of Maryland’s leading non-profit arts organizations and nationally recognized ceramic art centers. In honor of this special anniversary, Clayworks is planning a 30th Anniversary Gala Two Day Affair on September 24 and 25, 2010.  The weekend event will feature artists, artwork and a one-of-a kind gala at the American Visionary Arts Museum.

This two day event is chock-full of entertainment, surprises, art and artists – too much to possibly fit on one page.  Please visit http://www.baltimoreclayworks.org/event/clayball.html for details.

    AT-A-GLANCE:

    ▪ Friday evening, September 24 - In celebration of fine art, food and friends, George Ciscle, curator in residence at MICA, is presenting 30 selected pieces of distinctive art work donated from contemporary artists and collectors for a preview auction and cocktail party at Clayworks.  After cocktails and bidding, the party will continue with dinner and entertainment at David and Marla Oros’ signature home in Roland Park (featured in Style Magazine July 2009).  The pieces will be exhibited at Clayworks starting September 13th.

    ▪ Saturday day, September 25 - Curt Decker, collector of Pre-Colombian antiquities, will open up his home in Mt. Vernon for a brunch and opportunity to delight in his private collection.

    ▪ Saturday evening, September 25 – The 30th Anniversary Clay Ball will be held at the American Visionary Arts Museum and feature silent and live auctions led by MPT actor and presenter, Bob Heck, a seated dinner by Innovative Gourmet, the smooth sounds of the Rob Reason Jazz Group and access to some of the best ceramic art in the country.

    ▪ Baltimore Clayworks’ Executive Director Deborah Bedwell will be honored for her 30 year commitment to advancing the ceramic arts both locally and nationally and for providing access to hands on arts experiences for many in Maryland

    ▪ Live performers – stilt walkers and contortionists, will be performing during cocktails.
    ▪ A surprise “reveal” auction in honor of Deborah Bedwell. Various artists including Lana Wilson, Tom Coleman, Chris Staley, Fong Choo, Erroll Willett, Kevin Crowe, Paul Dresang, Val Cushing, Linda Arbuckle, Hayne Bayless, Fong Choo, Julia Galloway and many more will be featured.

    ▪ A silent auction featuring work from established luminaries in the art world as well as emerging talents, regional, national and international artists in the field of ceramics.
